It's been awhile since my last post. I bet you all thought I was having too much fun in Nashville to write. Well, you're correct. We are back and settled from our vacation. We went to Alabama and dropped baby Hayden at my parents and then Robert and I went to Nashville for some time alone. It was so nice. It took awhile for us to stop worrying about the baby, but once we did... we still got it. I thought we'd be in bed by 9pm. Nope. At 9pm we were just getting started, listening to great live music, watching the people, Robert doing his usual "I bet you won't go and introduce yourself to the singer of the band (it gets me every time, his name was Chris Scruggs, the grandson of the legendary Earl Scruggs)." We were at the hotel late enough to be proud, but early enough to miss all the drunk drama that happens when the bars close. We spent the next day catching up on a year and a half of little sleep. I slept most of the next day. Then we went to a nice dinner and headed to the parents for family time. It was good. Though I didn't get to see any of my old friends, it was good to see my parents for a few days. Hayden did so well on the plane and the whole trip really. I was amazed.
We got back in town and realized just how much we missed it. How lucky we are to live in such a great town that we both love. Also, to be able to get in the car the very next day and drive to the beach and hang out. Beautiful. I love Charleston. Hayden got his first haircut this past weekend. Tradition says around their first birthday, but he is Robert and my child, you know he's got enough hair to provide comb overs for all the Donald Trump look-a-likes! He did well and looks so much like a little boy now. About 6 weeks until his first birthday, if you can believe that. I can't. I don't know where the time has gone. All I know is now I have this tall baby that is crawling faster than I can catch and trying to walk. It's amazing.
Tomorrow is the month anniversary of the death of Jackie. A month since the accident. I still don't have a car though we're getting very, very close. I think (and hope) we should get one this weekend. I'm getting a van just like the other one, but a 2008. Same color, same everything. This one will not be named Onasis as I thought. Robert wants to start off the new van right and not be reminded of Jackie. So, the new one has been named Caroline by Robert. Very fitting. I love that he humors me with the naming of my cars. I love that man.
We're heading in to summer. We reached 90 degrees yesterday and supposed to be 94 on Saturday. Yes, we're heading to the beach this weekend. Did I mention I love Charleston? My best friend Teresa has just purchased her tickets for the Jones' Inn for 10 whole days! I couldn't be more excited. I think the last time we were together for that long was when we went to Europe while in college. Let's hope we have great adventures, but not as wild as those in Europe. God, that was a great trip.
Anyway, that is the update for now. I miss you all. Oh! I almost forgot. Congratulations to Brandon and Susie Petri. They welcomed a little boy this week, Connor Petri. What a blessing. I hope you get some sleep and don't miss a thing!
