Back To Work
Well, we're approaching my first day back to work, which will be Monday. I didn't think the time would go so quickly or that I would not want to go back. Here it is the Saturday before and I'm already dreading it. I took Hayden to daycare for four hours yesterday, just for a trial run. I was fine taking him, but when I returned to pick him up, he was crying. I heard him out the door and my stomach hurt when I heard it. He was fine, but still. It was a big day for him. He came home and was awake, but obviously exhausted and took a nap from 7-8:30, got his bath and in bed for the night by 10. He was tired. We're taking him all day on Monday. Pray for us that it goes well. It's so scary to leave your child with strangers. I hate it. I'm looking forward to getting back to work. I think the routine of it will do us all some good. However, it all goes back to leaving him for 8 plus hours. I can't help but wonder, what was the point of having a kid, if you let strangers raise him? I know this is silly as we're the parents, but honestly, it's just hard. I'm sure the first week back will be overwhelming, so I probably won't post for awhile. I wish you all a happy first week of October. My favorite month! Enjoy fall activities and the cooler weather.

Rattling Feet
Hayden has these slippers with faces on them that rattle. We put them on his feet yesterday and he quickly figured it out. Here is a video of him kicking his feet to hear the rattle. Too funny.

Hayden's Baptism
It was a great weekend. We had a lot of friends and family come in for Hayden's baptism. He did pretty well though he cried (loudly) at the start. He eventually calmed down when the water was poured over him. Special thanks to his Godparents, Brian and Becky. Now trying to catch up here at home now that our company has left. I start work in a few weeks and I'm dreading that. Write more later.

Peace and Innocence
I looked in at my son just now. He's taking his afternoon nap. As I looked at him, eyes closed, hands laying softly at his side, I was overwhelmed by something...peace. I just sighed and thanked God. I think there is so many terrible things in the world that when I looked at him, I saw the innocence that comes with babies. An innocence you pray will go unspoiled and a hope that he will some day be able to grow up and look at the world with the same bright eyes. I hope so many things for him, like most parents. I want him to be a good person, a great husband and do good things. I would hope that he some day can feel the love that I have for him for his child. He in the short two months he's been in our lives, has given me a sense of peace that is indescribable. He is the most wonderful blessing.
On another note, a few special birthday shout-outs! Happy Birthday, Marisa! Also Happy Birthday to my Godson, Isaac, who will celebrate his first birthday tomorrow. I will see him Thursday! I can't wait. Hayden is getting baptized on Sunday, so we'll have a lot of family and friends (including Isaac and his parents) here to help us celebrate. Enjoy your week.

Who Would Have Thought...
I've been thinking about what to write today. The thing I keep coming back to is Hayden (of course). I never knew that I would love something this much. Sure you love your child, but to actually like him and want to be around him because he's the greatest thing ever? Who would have thought. Everyone says it, I just never thought I'd be the one saying it. I thought it would be cool to have a kid, but never knew that I would laugh as much, worry as much, give as much and genuinely be happy this much. I crave being with him, just to see what he is going to do next and when he does the smallest thing, I just laugh with such ease. Just an absolutely joyful experience. He brings more joy to me than I ever thought.
I feared that I would lose my independence and "me" time when I had a child because you are never alone. However, it hit me today. I will always have someone to talk to. For example, we went shopping this morning and I tried on this shirt and it looked stupid. I looked down at Hayden and he was smiling. I said, "mom looks stupid in this doesn't she?" He smiled again. It dawned on me, I'll always have someone to talk to. So, goodbye independence, I'd rather have someone to talk to. Especially, when he's so adorable.
