Rant: Kick Us While We're Down, Why Don't You
So, as many of you know, we've had a rough month. I know I've been complaining to every open ear about this, but now I'm really complaning (that other stuff was warm up). It all started with Hayden getting a high fever and being sick for about four days about a month ago. It turned in to an ear ache and poor little guy didn't feel good. After we got him well, about two days later, I came down with a high fever and chills, sweats and couldn't swallow. I sucessfully got over it and two days later, Robert came down with the same thing (this totals three solid weeks). Then Hayden got pink eye while Robert was sick. Then we all seemed to get well for about a day, then Hayden got a runny nose and a fever and then Robert caught it again. I was good to go for four days and now I've got it again and I think Hayden's pink eye is back. So, I'm really complaning now. We're tired of being sick, tired of being tired, sick and friggen tired, whaaa! Make it stop! Someone please. I heart daycare and the buggery kids (including my own) who make the parents sick. It's a great alternative to not staying home with them. SIGH. Thanks for listening, I'll be at the Doctor's office AGAIN if you need me.

Lean Cuisine

Dear Lean Cuisine,
Thank you. Thank you for listening to my unvoiced suggestion about making your dishes bigger. I am not on a diet, I just want something that I can take to work and feel full after. I love your food, but it just wasn't enough for my larger than life appetite. I like to eat and your sad little portions weren't cutting it. Then I found your new entrees (Dinnertime Selects) where the portions are twice the size and you even thought to include a little dessert. Oh thank you. Thanks for making the food good enough that I'll actually eat it.
Yours truly,
Just Lazy, Not Fat

Olympic Dish
Forgot to add this before: My friend Brandon's Sister, Heather Petri, is in the Olympics in Bejing for Water Polo. Root her on by setting your Tivo and yelling at the top of your lungs as you watch it, who knows she may hear it. Check out her cool blog to get an inside perspective to the Olympics. http://hpeatree.blogspot.com/

New Color
With the dining room and living room done with beautiful colors, we have added a new color to our house. Pink. No kids, I'm not pregnant. Hayden has pink eye. Yes, pink eye. Could we have another illness please? Please? I don't think we've had enough lately. Robert is finally starting to feel a little better too, which means that we're maybe making a turn for the better.
The Jones Inn seemes to be closing for the summer months. Though everyone is welcome, we're not having any more reservations made. I hope this means that we'll be able to get away ourselves. It's been a grand summer with great visitors. We look forward to next summer!
I wish everyone a happy and healthy week!

Jones Take the Bull by the Horn
One thing Robert and I always are greatful (among many things) is our ability to work well together on projects. I grew up in a family where we did tasks together as a family, but it was a fight all the way through it. Robert and I tend to laugh all the way through it. This weekend, we kicked ass by painting our dining room and formal living room. We did it with teamwork, laughter and a baby running behind a walker. It looks great and makes us both feel so much better. Though we didn't do any "fun" activies this weekend, the project is a year and a half in the making. We took the bull by the horns and got it done- together. Yeah, Team Jones! Now, the 70's themed guest bath is catching my eye. You're next sucker! I'll post pictures soon.
Music on my iPod, I'm digging. Artist: What Made Milwakee Famous (great name)- Sultan and My Morning Jacket - I'm Amazed.
One final note- Thanks for your suggestions on the quilt/down comforter. I found a down comforter that is "Super Light Weight". I've ordered it and we'll see how much Robert sweats before he makes me send it back. :) Keep you posted.
Enjoy your week.

A Picture In Your Head....
doesn't always look the same in reality. I got the brilliant idea that I wanted to finally tackle the formal/computer room and our dining room. I got tired of the pink curtains left by the previous owner and the stark white walls. We enlisted the help of Robert's brother, who actually likes to paint (he's crazy people). We picked a soft green for the top of the chair rail in the dining room and living and a deeper green for the bottom of the dining room. In my mind this would look like Oprah's squirmy friend did in. Yeah, it looked like the hospital that I gave birth to Hayden it. I walked in the house took one look and gave a see through fake smile to my brother in law who stood sweating in my dining room. So, instead of relaxing this weekend, my wonderful husband and I will be the ones sweating in my dining room as we repaint it the safe beige that I wanted to go with in the first place. I don't know why I am not girly enough to match, to love decorating, to do all the things most girls soar at. Instead, I'm the girl who hates picking the colors, but I'd be happy to paint, replace hardware, electrical, anything! I just need someone else tell me what looks good. Have a great weekend.

One Normal Weekend
That's all we're hoping for. A weekend with no visitors (God knows we love having them, but we need a short breather), where all of us are well, where we can spend time together doing fun things instead of always being on the go. I hope we have one soon.
Robert's sister has been in town since last Tuesday. They (key word they) spent a fun weekend full of horseback riding, birthday parties, Low Country Boils (includes shrimp and other yummy goodness), had access to a beach house that literally had one lot between them and the ocean, etc. They all had a great weekend. Even baby Hayden was enjoying the festivities (it's Mandy's 50th birthday soon) that I helped plan. I, on the other hand, was drastically limited to my participation in the activities. Remember how Hayden was sick last week? Yep, you guessed it. I got a fever on Friday morning, suffered through until I thought my throat was going to close shut and finally went to the Doctor where they tested me for Strep, gave me some antibiotics and sent me on my way. After missing most if it, I finally convinced, well told, Robert that the only way he was going to keep me from a free beach house afternoon would be to lock me up in the house--literally. He decided that he would pick his battles. I spent a few hours pretending that I was okay and then leaving before everyone else. It was nice to be able to both rest and do a few things, but sad that I couldn't partake in it all. Hayden has got the dreaded separation anxiety phase, which makes it interesting to try to leave him even for a second.
So, I hope for a relaxing weekends to come. For our lives to be a little less complicated and to enjoy each minute together.
