Birthday Weekend.

Tomorrow is Robert's birthday. We are taking it easy and having some family time. We went to Middleton Place Plantation this morning and it was great. A little hot (91 in the shade), but we all had a great time. It's so nice and peaceful out there. I just set up wirless in our house, yes, I was in the dark ages. Really, I got it because we're getting Tivo tomorrow. Well, Robert is for his birthday. Shhh, he doesn't know it yet, but because he reads my blog once a year, I'm sure my secret is safe. It was a good excuse to have wireless.

I hope you all have a great weekend. Enjoy your time together and the warm weather.

In Perspective

This is a great campaign from Germany, but the message is universal. If you don't choke up, you're my hero. If you do choke up watching it, you have kids.

Flight Home

Well, Teresa is on a flight back to Michigan. She's brown and blonder than she's ever been thanks to 10 days at the beaches of South Carolina. Here are a few quotes from her time here: (Wave pounds her in the head, gasps for air), "Have I told you thank you for moving here yet?" "If I die and I am lucky enough to go to heaven, I hope it looks like this" (as sitting on the beach at Sullivan's Island). I think from those quotes, she had a great time. I'm sad to see her go home, but feel a little more complete having her here. The last time we were together for this extended period of time was in 1999 when we went to Europe together. Good times, will post pictures soon!

Cheers!

Cheers to my friend Duncan in London who introduced me to the band, The Enemy. A classic London sound with a bit of an edge. Don't bother looking on iTunes, listen to them here. http://www.theenemy.com/home.php

Fun and Sun - All Weekend

What a great weekend! I took Friday off from work, Teresa and I dropped Hayden at daycare and headed to the beach. We stopped by the grocery store to get a 6'er of beers for the beach. We decided on canned Coronas (can't have glass on the beach). I said, what will we do for the lime? Teresa being her super brilliant self walked confidently to the produce section and picked up a small container of lime juice. This is why I hang out with her, I would have never thought of that. We went to the beach, drank a few beers swam in the ocean and laid out. Teresa who is already as brown as an Indian did fine. My Irish ass is now the color of a lobster though no one is surprised. I do it every year.

We were going to spend the rest of the weekend at the beach with Robert and Hayden, our two favorite boys, but Robert was sick all weekend. So, he stayed home as we all got in our bathing suits and headed to the beach. It was a great weekend, but we missed having Robert with us.

Now, I'm back at work, Robert is at home and Teresa is heading to the beach again. I hope you all have a good and productive week.

Beach Day!

I've decided to take tomorrow off and spend the day with Teresa at the beach. I am looking forward to spending time together, just her and I. Frankly, I need a break from work and how better to spend a "free day" than at the beach with your best friend, a book and a few beers. Enjoy your weekend.

Double Trouble

That is what we've been called, my friend Teresa and I. I am not sure that it applies to us these days, but still funny to think about. Yep, Teresa has arrived in her "summer home" here in Charleston. I thought she was a little odd when she walked off the plane with a coat on her arm when it was a steamy 91 degrees here. She then told me it was a high of 60 when she left Michigan. She sat out on our deck and soaked up the rays. Today she is downtown doing the touristy thing. She's looking in to kayak adventures and possibly on Friday, I'll be taking the day off and heading to the beach. I'm hoping it works out.

It's always nice to have friends in town. It's nice to have someone who knows you be around you. I mean really knows you. For those of you who haven't left home to a new and strange city, it'll be hard to understand. You have friends and people that know you to a certain extent. But to have that history with someone, who knows you to the core, it's priceless. You can let it all fly and they expect it from you. It's a nice feeling and I'm enjoying it.

It's going to be a good visit to catch up and enjoy the company. Have a great week.
