Zzzzzzzzzz

It's been a long day already. Poor Hayden was up all night teething. He would cry and then smile and then cry again. We finally got back to sleep around 3 and my alarm went off at 5. So, I'm running on about two hours of sleep. I am ready for those teeth to come in so I can get some rest!

This Friday is the day of our marketing party. I will be the host. Though you all came up with a lot of really good themes, I am still undecided. If you have any ideas, speak up!

I hope you all have a good and restful week!

Movement

We got home after a busy day and I sat Hayden on the floor to remove my coat and wash my hands. When I went back in to the living room to get him, I thought he was in a different spot. I stood there for a second and watched and he crawled about two "steps". I called Robert in the room and this is what we saw. He's growing up too fast.

It's a Crazy Life

I feel like I'm running around constantly. Coming, going, making, doing, saying, playing, etc. It's been a busy few weeks both personally and professionally and not going to let up any time soon. I can balance everything. At least I tell myself that. As long as I don't sit down, I'm fine. Some day I'll crash, but not any time soon. I do find myself trying to be more conscious of enjoying the moments of life, even when you're busy. I tend to put blinders on and focus on the task at hand until it is done and then moving on to the next thing.

However, that all changes when you have a baby. I am quickly realizing that he doesn't care when dinner is supposed to be ready, he wants and WILL eat NOW! You will stop everything and feed him and go back to what you were doing. You have to notice the little things too. This morning I was rushing down the hall to wake Hayden up, my thoughts everywhere else but in the moment. I step in the doorway and look across the room at his crib. I see little head pop up and shoots me the biggest smile. I stopped everything, smiled right back and thanked God for such a little blessing.

Enjoy your little blessings and remember the moments. You'll look back on them someday, but you won't remember the meal you made, or the work you accomplished- you'll remember the smiles.

We're missing it!

Robert knows he can always get a smile from me with his constant feeling that if we don't do something (what ever the topic may be) immediately, we'll miss it. Last night it was the deal on plane tickets to see my parents. Yes, we're going to Alabama for a quick visit as our "vacation". Well, we're dropping Hayden at their house for a few days and we're driving to Nashville to have some "US" time. Believe me it's been a struggle, but we're going for it.

Today, I'm saying we're missing it. I walked into daycare this evening to pick up Hayden. His two teachers about burst through their skin and said, "we've had some big improvements today!!" I said, "you're not saying he crawled?" Thinking- I've been working with him for weeks and nothing but frustration. "YES! He did it today for the first time. We almost called you!" I honestly was so excited. It wasn't until later when we got home and I tried numerous times to get him to do it and nothing. I don't often struggle anymore with my decision to stay at work-- until moments like this. Then I think about what a pain it's going to be after he gets mobile to keep him contained. Then I think, "that's right, keep that mess at daycare, Mommy's tired."

Today's Idea

I've solicited your suggestions for our Friday afternoon party. I appreciate everyone's idea, but still looking for that perfect one. Today's party theme was make your own trail mix. All the fixin's, you got your solo cup and make your own mix and washed it down with a beer. NICE. Come on PEOPLE get your thinking caps on! I have no creative juices in my body, that is why I hang out with you guys!

Watching My Mouth

I've always been a swearer, most of you know that. Yes, sorry mom, I use the F-word as a noun, adjective and where else I think I can place it. I don't know why, it's more of a habit than anything. I've gotten considerably better over the years, but today was just another moment where it's gotten me in trouble. I was telling some story about something and said, "where you stand in a F***ing field all day in the hot sun" and as I said that, our CEO walked by and looked right at me and kept going. It's RARE moments when I get red in the face, but I did at that moment. I'm far too old to be throwing it around like I'm some joker on The Real World. I'm going to try to make an effort to watch my mouth. It's not doing me any good. Enjoy your weekend.

Happy 3rd Anniversary

Today is Robert and my 3rd wedding anniversary. Where has the three years gone? We feel as though we've been married a year. We've done so much over the life of our marriage and relationship. When we look back, our heads spin. A lot of huge life changes and a lot of moments where we leaned on each other for support.

Though it all, we've been there for each other both as husband and wife, and best friends. A lot of triumphs, a few failures, a couple scary moments and some big leaps of faith. Through it all we stood strong, remembered who we are and got through them. We laughed, cried, talked, shouted, and said what we needed to say with our eyes. I am the luckiest girl in the world to have him as my husband. I thank God for the relationship that we have.

Happy anniversary to my dear husband. The person that I think back of the moment I fell in love with and still find those moments to this day.
