Hardest Job
So, I was thinking last night at 4 am while I was rocking Hayden about motherhood. I was also watching Oprah the other day and she said, "the hardest job in the world is being a parent." First of all, being cynical and not liking Oprah I thought, how would she know? So, last night I thought about it and figured it out. It is the hardest job, not only because of the great responsibility of it. It is because it is the job that NEVER ends. I know I have 18 plus years of Hayden, but that's not quite it either. It is because you are "on" 24- hours a day, 7 days a week. You don't get a break AT ALL. For those of you who don't have kids, think about going to work and having a good day, but with a lot of stress. Then take that feeling and think that you have to do it day in and out with no release. You can't go and have a beer and relax, or go home and forget about it, you just have to get through it, day in and day out. It's the toughest job.

That's a lot to think about at 4am!
Oddly, I was up at 4am with Isaac also! He is getting his second top tooth in right now and he needed some cuddles.
Crazy isn't it, 4am?
It gets better, it even gets to the point where you can drink on the job, and play on the job, and do things that would be considered creapy. Imagine what you would say about some 30 year old guy crawling around the ball pit at a McD. Then think about the same guy with a 2 year old, now instead of creapy he's a good dad...
LOL! I'm glad Mr. B explained the creepy part of his comment. I was scared for a moment. ;)
I'm sure parenthood will always be the hardest job. I can't imagine doing that and my current job. Far too much stress.
This was a very moving entry. It made me remember my Mom and the Nonda's of the world.
